Teen Girl Pant/Bed Wetting

Hi, my name is Isabelle. I am 15 and have had severe wetting problems for a couple of years now. I started out wetting the bed after my parents' divorce when I was about 13 years old. I hid it for a couple of months but eventually my family found out. This was awfully humiliating because I have a sister who is 3 years younger who has never had these kinds of problems before.

It became such an issue that I was forced to wear diapers to bed every night. I saw the doctor but it turned out it wasn't physical at all, just psychological, and yet I still haven't been able to stop. This meant that I couldn't go to sleepovers with my friends and was not getting nearly as much sleep as I needed. After this had been going on for 8 or 9 months, my mother, my sister, and I took a road trip and got caught in terrible traffic. I had to use the bathroom very badly and after hours of holding it, wet my pants in our car.

After that, I was constantly nervous that it might happen again during the day. Soon after we got back, I was in school taking a test and felt a sudden, powerful need to go to the bathroom. I asked my teacher if I could, but she refused. This resulted in the most embarrassing incident yet, my losing control of my bladder in front of the entire class and being sent to the office to exchange clothes. After this, daytime wetting started becoming a regular problem for me as well. I have consulted the doctor many times but there seems to be no clear medical explanation. I was wondering if anyone else out there had experienced anything similar and could offer any advice.

Sweetheart, I feel your pain! I also wet the bed until I was 16 years old, most nights! I also suffered from 'leaking' during the week! I went to doctors, naturopaths and urologists! The only thing that helped - was gaining my own self confidence! I would suggest you get councelling, school should be able to help, and with the day time wetting - never restrict your drinks, but, train your bladder to go at certain times - say morning tea time and lunch, also, I suggest you sip - rather than drink water, stay away from soda or juice! You can do it hun, I am thinking of you! aND BELIEVE YOU ME, YOU ARE NOT ALONE! You are a very brave woman who is doing the right thing by asking for help!
