um i have a friend who is a girl and is 13 who has just started wetting the bed for no reason hasnt been stressed or dosnt have a family member who did nothing like that help me out
Hi Jade – your friend is experiencing Secondary Nocturnal Enuresis a term used to describe a situation where children or teenagers have been previously dry for six or more months then begin wetting the bed. The first thing she needs to think about is what has caused this change? There are a number of possible medical causes – this can be as simple as a urinary tract infection or something more challenging like juvenile diabetes – so it is very important that these are ruled out first by her doctor. Sometimes people wet the bed in response to a change in diet or if they are particularly overtired, so it is important that she drinks regularly throughout the day and that she has a regular bedtime. A return to bedwetting may also result from emotional stress, which may result from worries at school or problems with friends. If this is the case it is important that she has someone that she can talk to and discuss her feelings.
