Hi Arron, you are experiencing what is typically referred to as secondary bedwetting. It is not unusual for teenagers to wet the bed at times of stress, which may be the result of your brother being ill. The first step is to speak with your parents about making an appointment to see your doctor. This is particularly important, as some bedwetting results from a medical condition so it is very important that you rule this out first. In the meantime you can try and help manage your bedwetting by wearing DryNites, these will just ensure that you’re not waking-up in wet sheets, which can be particularly challenging through these winter months. You should also talk to your parents about whatever is bothering you, let them know that you are worried about your brother and that you need their support. If stress is an underlying factor then we typically find that once you are feeling better about the situation, providing you are getting sufficient sleep and drinking regularly throughout the day, the bedwetting should stop.

Regards,
Dr Cathrine
