My son wets the bed every night and every day before going to sleep how can we stop it? Will my son need nappies or pull ups?
When bedwetting goes on for a number of years it is perfectly normal for parents to feel a little overwhelmed. Children typically wet the bed at night because they are unable to wake in response to a full bladder (many parents have commented how deeply their child seems to sleep), they produce more urine at night than their bladder can store, or there is a family history of bedwetting. A small or ‘unstable’ bladder is also common – which may explain why he wets a number of times during the night. If you have not already done so I would recommend making an appointment with your doctor to first check for any medical reason for his wetting and to discuss treatment options. Absorbent pants are a great way to reduce the stress associated with wet beds – given his age I would recommend that he wear DryNites – Pull-Ups only come in smaller sizes and are designed for day use so you are likely to experience leakage.
