Family history
My poor children never had a chance, both my parents were bedwetters. My mother being around 11 or 12 when she grew out of it, (her younger brother was 18). Two of my older siblings were about 7 when they stopped, but my other brother and I were round 12.
Our parents and the DRs tried alarms for both of us to no avail, as we were very heavy sleepers. My father even tried putting the alarm inside an old biscuit tin. I have since discovered that I make excess urine at night and even as an adult will have to get up up to 8 times a night.
All three of my children have the same problem, my eldest was around 9 when he stopped. We had hospital kylies for him, no DryNites back then. My two younger children are 7 and 3, and I use DryNites for them. I wouldn't be able to afford them, but my 7yr old daughter also has daytime problems, sometimes not knowing she even needs to go. So her pediatrician got us onto a disability benefit which pays for her DryNites. I don't know where we would be without that.
I hope she grows out of it soon, but we just take each day at a time, and most importantly, we never make a fuss, after all it's not something they have any control over.
