My 5yo has recently recovered from a UTI, however, since completing the medication she has been wetting the bed two times a night (over the last 2-3 weeks) as well as having accidents during the day. She'd have accidents before but not as frequently.

We have taken her to a naturopath where we discovered that she is intolerant to: lactose, wheat, diary, yeast, and that she should avoid bananas. Could this be a factor in her bedwetting and daily accidents?

Dr Cathrine Answered:

Hi Rose – while there is not a strong research-based to support this, I am familiar with literature that suggests a link between food allergies or intolerances and bedwetting. In saying this, any form of daytime wetting after the age of 5 years really needs to be investigated further by your GP or a Pediatrician.
