Hi my name is carmel my 7 year old daughter wets the bed at night because she is scared to get up in the night i leave a light on but it doesnt work,she also wets her pants at school & i dont know what i can do about it to stop it.
Hi Carmel – while some children do wet the bed because they are too scared to get up by themselves, this is rarely the cause of chronic bedwetting. It may be that she is unaware that she needs to go and is trying to find a reason to explain why she is wetting the bed at night. Have you tried co-sleeping with her – that way she won’t be scared and you can get a better idea of whether or not she is awake and aware of needing to empty her bladder. I would recommend making an appointment for her to see your GP, while nighttime incontinence is not unusual at her age, any type of daytime wetting should be investigated further.
