Dr Cathrine Answered:

Parental responses to bedwetting can either help diffuse a potentially stressful situation, or make a bad situation even worse. Keep reassuring him by explaining that his bedwetting is perfectly normal and in no way his fault and that with time this will all come to an end. It is important to never force a child into wearing absorbent pants. Explain that you want to help him manage his bedwetting, and that while you see DryNites as being the best way to help him to get a good night sleep you are also happy for him to help decide how he would like to handle his bedwetting. Explain to him that DryNites are designed for older children and are even worn by teenagers. Given his past history with constipation it would certainly be worth following-up with your doctor.

Dr Cathrine
