I am a doctor but this is a big frustration for Stefan ( my 6 year old son) and us as a family. I just ordered an alarm but would like to know what food or drinks he needs to avoid. His most recent renal USS was normal. He was toilet trained at age of 2 but continue with night accidents. He is a deep sleeper too and loves drinking water.
if you think food sensitivities are contributing to his night wetting he may benefit from eliminating foods such as citrus and dairy from his diet. Any foods or drinks that contain caffeine should also be avoided as they stimulate the kidneys to produce larger quantities of urine overnight making it harder for his bladder to hold on overnight. It’s important not to restrict his water intake – as long as he is not drinking too much just before bedtime. All the best with the alarm treatment – given he is such a deep sleeper you will probably need to help him wake initially and turn the alarm off himself.
