Pull ups giving my son eczema, will drynites do the same?

We have always used huggies on my two boys, but they are both prone to eczema & my eldest is now 5 and has asd so I can't see him out of night nappies soon. I don't know what the difference is with pull ups compared to nappies but we have spent heaps on wasted pull ups as he doesn't want to be a 'baby' anymore and wear nappies but pull ups give him the rash after 2-3 days every time! Are they made with different ingredients &will drynites do the same? Is there anything else you can suggest?

Dr Cathrine Answered:

The difference between Pull-Ups and DryNites is that Pull-Ups are specifically designed for toilet training and daytime use. They have a built-in wetness liner that allows the children to feel when they are wet, which is why your son would be developing eczema as they urine is staying next to his skin rather than being drawn away. DryNites are specifically designed for nighttime use and offer a high level of absorbency, drawing the urine away form children’s skin in much the same way as a Huggies nappy does. You will find they are more appealing than the Pull-Ups as they are designed for use by older children and appear more like an underpant than nappy.
